Although there have been fewer incidents in recent months due to the winter weather, residents, representatives and the police all want to make sure that measures are in place by the summer to tackle this anti social behaviour.
Street drinking has been an ongoing issue in the area. We want to make sure that those who are causing a nuisance get the help they need, we need to make sure that they do not stop residents from enjoying the area. Some residents have suffered intolerably and this must not be allowed to continue.
The Government has brought in many new measures that can be used to address the problem. We need to work together find the right approach to tackle the issue so that residents can have a peaceful summer.
The Council are currently looking at Controlled Drinking Zones in the Borough and the meeting agreed to reconvene in April in order to put measures in place before the summer months.
