I recently visited the Opening Doors Centre on Lewisham High Street. The centre offers practical training and support to help Lewisham residents find employment.
During my visit I met with the centre's staff and clients and saw the specialist services on offer, including support for lone parents looking for work and help for people wanting to return to work after unemployment.
Unemployment in my constituency has more than halved since 1997, but it is still too high, especially when there are unfilled vacancies. Opening Doors offers support which can make all the difference in getting a job and transforming someone's life.
