
![]() Today I joined Lewisham East MP Heidi Alexander in attacking the Government’s proposals to cut Lewisham Council’s funding by up to £77million over the next four years.
![]() Lewisham Council may have to reduce its spending by up to £60 million (£1 in every £4 that it currently spends) over the next three years. ![]() I will be seeking re-election in the forthcoming General Election. Postal Vote ballots will go out over the weekend of the 24th of April and the Election will be held on the 6th of May, alongside the local council elections and the election for Mayor of Lewisham. ![]() Today, in my capacity as Chair of the Brockley Common Round Table, I welcomed the news that work is about to begin on the Brockley Ramp. The work, undertaken by Lewisham Council, is anticipated to last for 14 weeks and will create a disabled access ramp and steps at Brockley Station. ![]() On Friday I met with Evelyn and New Cross Safer Neighbourhood Teams, residents and other representatives to discuss how to tackle the issue of street drinking in the area. ![]() Today I welcomed the news that planning permission has been given by Lewisham Council for the redevelopment of Deptford Station. ![]() A new recycling bin is being trialled on the streets of Lewisham town centre, with the aim of encouraging people to recycle their litter. The "Greenie" is a split recycling bin which enables people to drop litter into one of two sections: one for general litter and one specifically for recyclable waste. I am writing to add my voice to those of local residents who have made their individual representations as they live near to the White Hart Pub. I will not be personally affected, but as someone who has worked hard to support a raft of regeneration efforts in the area for many years I have no doubt this would be an extremely retrograde step.
