My Labour colleagues and I are calling on the Government to think again about controversial plans which could see local woodland sold off to the highest bidder. Government proposals currently being discussed in Parliament will give Ministers the green light to sell off the public forestry estate in England.
As a former Labour minister and long-time campaigner for women’s equality, I would like to give my support to Harriet Harman’s call for a 50:50 split of women and men in the Shadow Cabinet.
I am supporting Ed Miliband for Labour Leader. I worked with Ed from the inception of the new Department of Energy and Climate Change until the new government took over. He was an inspiring leader of the department and a constant source of ideas.
Many thanks to everyone who voted for me on May 6. The addition of the new ward of Lewisham Central to the constituency by the Boundary Commission presented an additional challenge, so it was particularly rewarding to gain an increased majority.

I will be seeking re-election in the forthcoming General Election. Postal Vote ballots will go out over the weekend of the 24th of April and the Election will be held on the 6th of May, alongside the local council elections and the election for Mayor of Lewisham.
