![]() My Labour colleagues and I are calling on the Government to think again about controversial plans which could see local woodland sold off to the highest bidder. Government proposals currently being discussed in Parliament will give Ministers the green light to sell off the public forestry estate in England. ![]() On 15 June 2010 I had the pleasure of ‘unveiling’ the solar panels at Edmund Waller School. The panels have been in place since the spring and the school has already saved close to 7 tonnes of CO2. ![]() A photo of me from my days as Chair of CND is currently on display at the National Portrait Gallery. The photo is on display in Room 38a and also been reproduced outside and as a postcard. ![]() I am pleased to announce that I have signed up to the 10:10 campaign. The campaign is aimed at encouraging individuals, business and schools to cut their emissions by 10% by 2010. ![]() Today I would like to welcome the launch of Go-Ahead Bus Company’s ‘Go Green’ initiative. I have visited the New Cross Bus Garage and met with drivers and managers to learn about ‘Go Green’. ![]() The Climate Change, Energy and Planning Bills have all become Acts of Parliament. These Acts of Parliament will transform the way we live. ![]() A new recycling bin is being trialled on the streets of Lewisham town centre, with the aim of encouraging people to recycle their litter. The "Greenie" is a split recycling bin which enables people to drop litter into one of two sections: one for general litter and one specifically for recyclable waste. |
