Today I met with students from Crossways Academy in the House of Commons. The students were on a school trip to learn more about the history and workings of Parliament. They also had the opportunity to quiz me on issues ranging from the stereotyping of young people by the media to what it is like being an MP.
![]() I was concerned to learn of proposals to close the post office at 405 New Cross Road as part of the Area Plan Proposal under the Post Office Ltd's Network Change Programme. The Programme has now been put to a six week public consultation. Today I am speaking out against last night's vandalism that caused tens of thousands of pounds' worth of damage to the newly opened Stephen Lawrence Centre.
![]() Today I visited Lewisham Bridge Primary School to watch a special assembly in which pupils demonstrated an innovative learning method based on music. The assembly was the culmination of the children's 'Count the Beat' classes which uses musical rhythms and beats to teach pupils key mathematical principles. |
