The competition was founded by Mike Weatherley MP, with the joint aims of supporting the UK’s live music sector and raising the profile of issues surrounding intellectual property rights. Its patrons include rock legends Alice Cooper and Deep Purple’s Ian Gillan.
Prizes on offer include music equipment, a chance to play at a high profile music festival and the opportunity to mix with the great and the good of the music industry.
Musicians and live music venues can find further information at www.rockthehouse2012.com.
There is a wealth of live music talent in Lewisham Deptford, and I would urge all aspiring musicians and live music venues to fill in an application and send it to me. The recognition and contacts entrants can gain from taking part in Rock the House is priceless and it would be great to put the constituency on the map for its musical talent.
All entries should be sent to Dame Joan Ruddock MP’s office by 16th March 2012. Entries will be accepted by email (joan.ruddock.mp@parliament.uk) or post (Dame Joan Ruddock MP, House of Commons, London SW1A 0AA).
