In August I attended the Global Environment Forum in South Korea where I discussed the importance of climate change and Korea's key role in the upcoming Copenhagen climate negotiations.
I made a speech on green growth and met with a number of senior government ministers to discuss preparations for the international climate change negotiations in Copenhagen in December this year.
I also delivered a lecture at Ehwa Women's University to an audience of students, professors and media entitled 'Change for the Better: The Importance of Taking Action on Climate Change'. The lecture set out why governments and the public need to take urgent action to prevent dangerous climatic change. Later on I attended a dinner with CEOs from Korean businesses to discuss low-carbon growth in the UK and Korea.
I also met with Tanzanian Environment Minister, Batilda Burian, whilst in Korea. We discussed climate finance and the PM's finance initiative. We agreed that an ambitious finance package as part of a Copenhagen deal is critical for ensuring poorest and most vulnerable countries get the finance to adapt.
